Gently knitted by hand-operated knitting machine, linked together by hand all in a cottage on Saint Mary's Island, Kent. This is our most durable jumper in 6 ply high twist yarn to prevent any stretching or pilling - will last a lifetime.
We’ve designed and knitted many crew neck jumpers over the years, but the JAM jumper is the one closest to our hearts. A crew neck is such a simple, classic piece that its softness is absolutely essential.
We’ve always loved traditional British jumpers, from Shetland to Guernsey styles. British wool is both a blessing and a curse - its incredible strength and warmth are often offset by a prickly itch that never quite goes away. Still, that hasn’t stopped people from wearing and loving them. Over time, we developed a deep appreciation for these garments, finding them in flea markets and understanding why they remain so timeless and cool.
We wanted to use this heritage as our starting point, but create a yarn with the same character and tensile strength - without the itch. It took a few years, but we finally got there: a blend of half organic wool and half alpaca, spun in northern Italy in the hills below the Swiss border.
We take three of these fine yarns and twist them together as tightly as possible (the opposite of what’s usually recommended). Then our master knitter produces each piece on an old hand-operated flatbed machine, before linking it all together by hand in a cottage in Kent.
She’s a true character - she’s been knitting all her life, is now in her seventies, and wouldn’t want to do anything else (except go on holiday, which she also loves). The result might look slightly wobbly, and the rib tension a little tight, but she insists that’s how it should be. We agree.
It’s a remarkable piece of knitting craftsmanship - something you rarely find anymore. It doesn’t pill, it’s warm, and it’s built to last a lifetime. We could tell many more stories about the JAM, but we’ll leave it there for now.

Additional Information: In a high twist, extra durable wool yarn. Ethically bred and GOTS certified, fair trade and responsibly sourced, sheared, and reared, unprocessed, unbleached free from any treatments, dyestuffs or toxins. Completely untreated as the natural colour of the animal, spun in Biella using 100% green hydro energy.

UK ORDERS
UK orders are sent via DHL. Expected arrival date for UK shipments is 1-5 working days from the confirmation of the order.
INTERNATIONAL ORDERS
We use international courier services for orders shipping outside of the UK, normally DHL. Expected arrival date for international orders is approximately 3-7 days from the confirmation date. Buyer will receive a shipment confirmation email with a tracking number. For international orders, customs charges may be charged on arrival depending on the country in which you reside. VON SONO is not responsible for the payment of this import taxes and duties.
Shipping is non-refundable and paid by the customer.

RETURNS
We are glad to exchange any full price, unworn, unwashed item if you notify us within 7 days of receipt and return it to us within 14 days of receipt of your online order.
All items that are returned for an exchange or refund must be unworn and have their original tags and packaging.
All sales are final on sale products, swimwear, underwear and books. Please note that only products that are in their original condition will be refunded, others will be returned to the customers at their own cost.
Please be aware that the buyer is responsible for any return shipping costs. SONO is not responsible for return shipping costs nor duty reimbursement in the case of international purchases.
All sales are final after 14 days of purchase.Your return will be processed as soon as possible but allow up to 7 days for your refund to be processed. We hold the right to deny refunds if the product returned does not meet our return policy requirements.
